The Norwegian artist Lise Wulff arrived at Mina de São Domingos on March 19 to start her residency and start the construction of the installation entitled "Ninho" (Nest).
According to the artist, "the nest reminds us of the variety of birds that inhabit the region, which is famous for its rare species. The birds, which can fly anywhere, chose to fly and nest here. The installation aims to create new memories; not only symbolically pointing to the Mina area as an area of interest, but also for the collaborative work in making the installation, through the use of the installation as a meeting and contemplation point.”
On Sunday, March 20, a first meeting with the community took place where Lise presented her work and the project to be developed during her stay at Mina de São Domingos Mine.
Since Monday, March 21, Lise has been in residency at Cineteatro da Mina de São Domingos working daily on the first steps of the construction of the "Ninho" installation, which initially include the transformation of more than 400 meters of wood with the use of 20 liters of paint in different colors that refer to the colors of the mining complex. And over the next few days more than a thousand screws and many saws will be used so that on April 1st the Nest will be completed.
In the coming days we will continue to follow Lise's work and the birth of a new volume that will occupy an old space, "Ninho" which is a new artistic installation for Mina.
